PowerLift Silica Dust Vacuum

Silica dust collection systems are crucial safety equipment inside many industrial facilities. If exposed to silica dust for a prolonged period of time, workers may develop respiratory issues and other health concerns. Hazardous waste vacuums designed for silica dust control are used primarily in manufacturing plants and construction sites where contamination is common. Any accumulation of silica on surfaces increases the risk of those contaminants being stirred up into the air, which makes cleaning it up a high priority. Collection systems must meet silica dust vacuum requirements, which include HEPA filtration capable of capturing 99.97% of airborne particulates.

Our range of HEPA vacuum cleaners is built with silica collection in mind, so you can rest easier. Their capabilities make these industrial debris vacuums indispensable tools for keeping workplaces safe and free from these potential health hazards. In addition, these silica dust extractors also provide you with cost-effective and dependable performance over their lifespan.

We did the math: over 15 years with a PowerLift® Silica (PLS) silica dust vacuum, you spend an average of $308 per year on maintenance. Yup, that's it.

Optimized for OSHA compliance, the PLS silica vacuum delivers 99.97% HEPA filtration along with forklift portability. It’s also our most powerful large debris vacuum dedicated to silica. This makes our silica vacuum system ideal for construction sites that require a heavier vacuum.

Because our filters last an average of 5.4 years — ten times longer than other big systems — you can spend only $5,000 on parts over a 15-year period. That's a far cry from the usual $50,000. All this adds up to the best silica dust vacuum system on the market today.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are OSHA’s silica dust standards?

OSHA’s current standards require employers to limit employees’ exposure to silica dust. This includes installing systems to capture dust before it leaves equipment. However, it also must include the use of industrial vacuum cleaners for silica dust to clean any that may escape from those collection systems.

For general industry applications, employers are required to protect workers from exposure to silica dust levels above the permissible exposure limit of 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air averaged over an eight-hour day.

What should vacuums used to capture silica dust feature?

A vacuum for silica dust used in an industrial environment must include a high-efficiency particular air (HEPA) filter. This is a pleated filter that is capable of capturing particulates in the air as small as 0.3 microns.

A HEPA vacuum by definition should be able to remove at least 99.97% of dust and other airborne particles, leaving the air cleaner and preventing prolonged exposure to harmful contaminants. Choosing one of our high-efficiency particulate air vacuums provides your workplace with the highest levels of protection.

In which industries are employees potentially exposed to silica dust?

There is a chance of silica dust exposure in a wide range of industries. These include construction, mining, foundries, manufacturing, dentistry, and oil and gas extraction. Employers working in any of these fields should invest in industrial HEPA vacuum systems to reduce their risk.
